December, 2011 – The students at Sacred Heart School have been working hard at giving back.
In November, the fourth grade students, under the direction of their Religion instructor Mary B. Fisher, sponsored a food drive. They made posters to hang all over the school and encouraged their fellow students to bring in food to be donated to the Heart Ministry Center, the Sacred Heart outreach program. On November 18, after all the items were collected and counted, the school was able to give 427 non-perishable food items to those in need.
Ms. Fisher was excited about the number of items collected and proud of the students for giving back to the community. “Sacred Heart students collected 427 canned goods and other food items for the Heart Ministry Center. They presented them to the Center just in time to be included in the Thanksgiving meal baskets that were distributed throughout the community. This was one way the students of Sacred Heart School could give back to the community and families in need this Thanksgiving Season.”
